Connecticut has only eight electoral votes but it is a key state this year because control of the Senate is likely to hinge on three seats and Connecticut will elect two Senators. The race will be close most Connecticut elections are. Six of the nine gubernatorial elections since 1934 were won by fewer than 25,000 votes in a state where 900,000 voters go to the polls. Unlike the Protestant native, who usually votes Republican in the country and Democratic in the city, the large fereig-born and first generation population votes for a candidate.
