This article presents information on several books. Some of the books are: "Saxon Studies," by Julian Hawthorne; "Angola and the River Congo," by J.J. Monteiro; and "The Continental Book of the Signers," by William Brotherhead. "Saxon Studies" is such a book as a very young man might write in a season of combined ill-humor and conscious cleverness; but it is a book which most young men would very soon afterwards be sorry to have written. "Angola and the River Congo" is somewhat of a rarity in African literature. It contains no hair-breadth escapes nor improbable hunting adventures, and it is written by a trained scientific observer, who has a distinct idea of the sort of information he desires to impart and a very lucid method of imparting it.
