This article focuses on the book "An Historical Account of the Old State House of Pennsylvania," by Frank M. Etting. This monograph is not more a history of a famous building than it is of Pennsylvania before and during and immediately after the Revolution. Another interesting incident in State politics which Etting records is the appointment, under the Pennsylvania constitution of a Council of Censors, which met for the first and only time in November, 1783. Everything that can now be learned about the building of the State House, its changes in extent and its various uses, Etting has gathered with the greatest diligence, and luminously arranged in this volume.
