A Day At The Seat of "War"

The article presents the author's views on war situation at Arkansas. Arkansas is by no means in as bad a condition as South Carolina, although she came out of the war with a worse character; but, if something is not done to arrest her present progress, there is some reason to fear that she may reach it before long. The river bottoms were as usual early settled by cotton planters, who were as respectable a body of men as any of their class, and in fact most of the settlers were and are sober, honest, and industrious, and even frugal.
