The article discusses the recent changes in the process of campus recruitment for the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). The protests against CIA recruitment on college campuses have evolved from outbursts to regular, coordinated actions. Since, colleges have for years lent their facilities for CIA-financed and directed projects. The agency's research into mind-control drugs and psychological warfare is well known, as are some of its best friends among faculty. Most recently, at least five universities have agreed to participate in the CIA's Officer-in-Residence Program, under which an active agent serves as a lecturer or guest speaker in regular classes. The appointment of agent George Chritton Jr. met with angry opposition. Against these intrusions into academic life, students have organized protests physically barring recruiters from campus.
