In this article, the author focuses on several socio-political issues around the world, as of October 30, 1879. It was a new surprise when the Secretary of State of the U.S. made an ordinary campaign speech to promote the election as Governor of the State of New York of a man whom the President of the U.S., dismissed from the position of Naval officer of the Port of New York because that dismissal was necessary for efficient and honest administration of the office. The revival of the woman's suffrage controversy in the book "North American Review" and the replies to it of five of the leading friends of the movement, have attracted attention mainly because of its author in the field.
