The article presents information about various socio-political developments taking place in the United States. The enormous speculative transactions at the Stock Exchange have at length begun to attract general attention. It now confesses "that the South has not formally proclaimed its determination to try the experiment of rebellion a second time, if its pretensions to supremacy be not forthwith recognized." Town elections were held and two constitutional amendments voted upon in Connecticut on Monday.
