The article presents information on various socio-political developments around the world. The educational question in France, which is now occupying all minds and filling the press, is probably the hardest nut the Republic has yet had to crack. Nothing which has occurred for a long time has so thoroughly roused the Catholic clergy. Some of the bishops have published fiery pastorals on it. In another development, the Indianapolis Journal, bettering the example of the newspaper, New York Times, has lately reported the preferences of a thousand Indiana Republicans, in all parts of the State, for the next Presidential candidate.
