The article gives information about the book "Great Campaigns: A Succinct Account of the Principal Military Operations Which Taken Place in Europe From 1796 to 1870. The preface to this large and handsome book informs readers that its subject-matter has been compiled from a bug series of printed and manuscript works left by the late Major Charles Adams. The book treats of campaigns in Italy, North and South Germany, Poland, Saxony, France, Belgium and Bohemia, from 1796 to 1870, and especially of the operations connected with the battles of Montenotte, Marengo, Ulm, Austerlitz, Jena, Friedland, Dresden, Montmirail, Waterloo, Novara, Magenta, Königgrätz, Custozza and Gravclotte. The author's attention is mostly occupied with strategy.
