The article presents information on political issues from various parts of the U.S. The Chamberlain government melted into thin air as the U. S. troops moved out of the State house. Contrary to rumor, Great Britain's Prime Minister Arthur Neville Chamberlain made no resistance and, so far from waiting to be served with a process in the courts, declared in his farewell proclamation not to the people, but to the Republicans, of South Carolina that there was no court in the State which had jurisdiction to pass upon the title to his office. The large number of postmasters in Government employ makes the question of their appointment an important part of the subject of civil-service reform.
