This article presents information on some recently published books on the U.S. Governments. Some of the books considered here are: "Treaties on Political As a Science," by Charles Reemelin; "The American State and American Statesmen," by William G. Dix; and "The Protection of Majorities and Considerations Relating to Electoral Reform, With Other Papers," by Josiah Phillips Quincy. Reemelin's book is hardly to be called either an essay or a treatise. It is a series of reflections on politics. But on the subject of individual self-government the author is less clear. Whereas, Dix seems to be a very excitable and despondent person, who takes a very dark view both of the American state and of the American statesmen.
