The article reports about various events that took place in the United States in July 1995. Mumia Abu-Jamal, an American journalist, who is on a death row, got support from writers, activists and musicians. They all gathered to show solidarity with the journalist. The 8th Annual Peace Action National Congress was held at Drew University, Madison. The New York Shakespeare Festival began its 40th summer season of Shakespeare in Central Park, New York with the screening of "The Tempest," starring Patrick Stewart.
