The article presents some political updates as of November 27, 1879. One of the updates focuses on the elections in Louisiana. The Republican Party there is now being headed by men with whom no Northern politician needs to be ashamed to associate. Its candidates are unimpeachable and its principles sound. The Democrats, on the other hand, can be assailed down there at this moment with a force and effectiveness to which they have not laid themselves open since the war. Another update discusses the new phase of discontentment in Ireland. The combination related with not to pay rent without a heavy reduction has passed to not to pay any rent at all. Moreover, there are claims to proprietorship of the land for tenantry.
