The article talks about Elizabeth, the queen of England. In the midst of their struggle Elizabeth and Catherine de M&eaccute;dicis were kept united by one common fear: they were afraid of a marriage between Mary Stuart and Don Carlos. Civil war had begun again in France, and the Protestant chiefs counted upon the help of Elizabeth, but she did not interfere and when Charles IX announced to her a new peace, he took the opportunity to recommend to her Mary Stuart, who had taken refuge in England.
