This article presents information regarding the book "History of the Life and Reign of Richard the Third. To Which Is Added the Story of Perkin Warbeck, From Original Documents," by James Gairdner. The policy of courts was dark, and in that of Scotland, where Perkin's story found most credence, the hatred of England was so intense that no imposture would have been too gross if it could have furnished an instrument for giving her trouble. But evidence of Perkin's identity with the Duke of York there is none. The Duchess of Burgundy, to put the ease in the mildest form, was biased both by interest and feeling in the highest degree, she was ready to countenance Lambert Simnel as well as Perkin Warbeck.
