The article discusses some of the political updates related to the U.S. The average voter, who depends for his political ideas upon current discussions in the newspapers, is at the present time in a fair way to have his mind hopelessly confused on the subject of the relations of the State and General Governments. He is gradually imbibing the idea that according to Republican doctrine the separate States exist only by the sufferance of the Union. The present condition and prospects of journalism has attracted a good deal of notice. For whatever view may be taken of the political course since the war, no one can deny that as a newspaper, Tribune it has done a great deal to elevate the general tone of the press in New York.
