The article focuses on several socio-political issues. The Municipal Society of New York , through a committee of which Simon Sterne is chairman, has introduced a bill at Albany which deserves the careful consideration of the legislature and of the public. The existing provisions of law in this state on the subject of applications to the legislature are extremely brief. The report of the Advisory Board which has been reviewing the proceedings of the court-martial which in 1862 cashiered General Fitz-John Porter, for misconduct in the face of the enemy, makes the case the most remarkable in military annals.
