The article presents information on various political developments taking place in the United States. The debates in the U.S. Congress Senate daring the past fortnight on several resolutions have been very interesting. They contain a very free and full exposition of the position which both parties have reached on the question of the relation which the recent Constitutional Amendments have created between the Federal Government and the voters of the various States. It is known to the public through the maritime columns of the daily press and otherwise that a line of steamers is plying between the port of New York and that of Rio do Janeiro, touching at some intermediate stations in the West Indies and on the coast of South America.
