The article provides information on the book "Astronomy," by R.G. Ball. If the object of the average science-primer were to amuse, there could be no fault to find with it ; but, as far as America is concerned, it is next to certain that this kind of books as a species has done more harm than good. Strictures on science-primers often apply to much larger and more ambitious works on astronomy. But they do not in general apply to Ball's work, which is direct, comprehensible, and valuable, and which will require, as it demands, some thought from the lad for whom it is presumably written.
