The article presents information on various books related to several issues. The book of scholar F. Gutekunst is an admirable and striking photographic likeness of the late author Bayard Taylor, as he would have liked to be and will be remembered by his friends. The book "Educational Directory," for 1878, by E. Steiger may be briefly described as a semi-annual reprint, with corrections and additions, of two important departments of his "Year-Book of Education," viz., the list of educational institutions in this country, the British Dominions, Germany and Austria; and the elaborate catalogue of publications on education and general philology. The information contained in these and in the publishers' advertisements bound up with them should prove of great value to parents, teachers and students.
