The article presents information on the book "Notes d'un Globe-Trotter. Course antour du monde," by Par Émile d'Audiffret. The book presents experiences of d'Audiffret on his tour to Yokohama, Japan. D'Audiffret started from Paris, France in August, 1878, taking the Suez and East India route. The more important part of the book is that which describes his residence in the Japanese capital Tokyo. During that time he studied the government and the manners of the people. His account of the marriage customs of Japan is especially curious.
