The article presents information on the book "Free Land and Free Trade. The Lessons of the English Corn Laws Applied to the United States," by Samuel S. Cox. The book presents the English experience on free trade since 1846. Cox through his book touches the convictions of the U.S. people about free trade. The book discusses on free land in Ireland. Cox in his book analyses political views on free land and trade. In the opinion of Cox, writers and speakers who work for free trade by public agitation find that their efforts are ineffectual because they never reach the real sources of protectionist strength.
