The article critically appraises the book "Lippincott's Gazetteer of the World." The book is a complete geographical dictionary of the world, containing notices of over 125,000 places. The book presents recent authentic information respecting the countries, islands, rivers, mountains, cities, towns etc., in every portion of the globe. Attention has been bestowed upon events of the U.S. Civil War. Territorial conditions of Romania and Bulgaria are correctly worded. Servia's declaration of independence in 1877 is also mentioned in the book.
