The article presents information on the book "La Reforme au XVIe Siecle: Etudes et Portraits," by M. Auguste Laugel. The activity of the French Protestants in literary and historical directions is great beyond all proportion to their numbers. Loss than one million souls in a population of over thirty-six millions, the record of their efforts during the past six years toward the complete illumination of the early history of their church shows a surprising degree of energy and success. The history of those early days of protestantism cannot be divided sharply into a political and a religious narrative.
