This article presents information about the book "Studies in Medieval History," by Charles J. Stillé. This book is a systematic presentation of medieval history, originally a course of lectures, and still preserving most of the characteristics of lectures. When one takes up the consideration of details, particularly in the chapters on institutions and political history, one cannot always agree with the author, and in some cases there appear to be positive errors. One has no objection to the view that the Anglo-Saxons had the village-community system at the time of the migration.
