The article presents information about the book "Cyclopedia of Practical Quotations, English and Latin, etc.," by J.K. Hoyt and Anna L. Ward. The strange adjective in the title of this work is calculated to arrest the attention of others besides plagiarists and stock speculators. A slight investigation shows that the utility of this cyclopedia is supposed to lie in its classification and that it recommends itself to story writers seeking epigraphs for their chapters to all who are called upon to write in young ladies' albums or birthday books. The prose extracts are subordinate to the poetical and indicate a great catholicity of taste on the part of compilers.
