A committee representing the National Land League Association waited upon the U.S. president on Friday afternoon and submitted a resolution offered by legislator Boyle O'Reilly and adopted by the Convention, regarding the imprisonment of citizens in the United States. A mass meeting of 6,000 to 8,000 workmen, representing all trades, was held in Philadelphia to express indignation at the veto of the anti-Chinese immigration bill. The Senate passed the Omnibus Claim Bill. The jury in the South Carolina election cases have rendered their verdict.
