This article focuses on "A Trip to Alaska," by George Wardman. The author states that he has been led to believe that his observations may be read with interest and profit by those in search of information concerning Alaska. The state of things social and political, as described by Wardman, has largely passed away or changed. The book has the virtues and failings of ordinary newspaper correspondence. It is lively and full of that exaggeration which writers for the press are often misled into thinking a necessary passport to popularity, and which in familiar matters is harmless because well understood.
