The article focuses on the book "The Origin and Growth of Religion As Illustrated by the Religion of Ancient Egypt," by P. Le Page Renouf. These lectures are a charming production. The chaste and animated diction, in excellent English, is worthy of the importance of the subject; conciseness and lucidity characterize alike almost every sentence the author states his own views with the firmness of an old enquirer-which he is-and those of others with the reverence of a disciple and every page is interesting and instructive. All the lectures, six in number, were delivered in 1879, but the first two, at least, appear to have been written nearly three years earlier.
