This article discusses political developments in Greece. The focus is on Greece as a progressive nation in spite of injustice done to it in the first part of the century. The progress of Greece has nevertheless been great ; the trade of the Greeks in the East has increased marvelously. During the last war, when it seemed that the Ottoman Empire was on the eve of being destroyed, the Cabinet of Athens preserved a remarkable discretion. During the debates of the Congress of Berlin the claims of Greece were discussed. France, always renowned for her Philhellenisrn, was allowed to become the mouthpiece of Greece in the Congress, and it was unanimously decided that a new frontier must be sought for the little kingdom.
