The article focuses on the work of writing and compiling dictionaries in Latin and Greek language during 18th century. It basically focuses on "A New Latin Dictionary," edited by E.A. Andrews. Neither Latin nor Greek lexicography kept pace with the advance of philological science, but Latin dictionaries have been behind Greek's. The labor of making or rewriting a complete lexicon is so long and tedious it cannot be undertaken many times in a generation. The features of the old dictionary which called most urgently for reform were the orthography and the etymologies. It was important to have a right way of writing and pronunciation every Latin word.
