The article discusses the political and social developments in the U.S. Mr. James Blaine is on his way to Washington for the winter, where he has taken more commodious quarters than he occupied last year. The election being over, there is no longer any necessity for retaining the modest living style and now he can add a little luxury his way of living. According to the report of the Utah Commissioners, the practice of polygamy is increasing in the U.S. and after the passage of Edmunds act, 196 men and 263 women have entered into the polygamic relations. A report comes from Connecticut that a Law and Order League is being formed there for the objects of bringing murderers to justice and of prosecuting persons who violate the liquor laws.
