This article discusses several books on fiction. Some of the books are "At Love's Extremes," by Maurice Thompson, "Zoroaster," by Marion Crawford, "Mr. Oldmixon," by William A. Hammond, "Down the Ravine," by Charles Egbert Craddock, "A Marsh Island," by Sarah Orne Jewett, "The Dynamiter," by R.L. Stevenson, and others. It is wise of the publishers not to announce the book by Charles Egbert Craddock, as a story for young people, for its first appearance in Wide Awake limited it much too closely to children. Its incidents might well amuse a boy too small to read it for himself, but its moral, inculcated in no perfunctory way, but by the whole spirit of the book, is one to be taken home by parents as well as children.
