The article presents information on the book "Facing Up: How to Rescue the Economy From Crushing Debt and Restore the American Dream," by Peter C. Peterson. Peterson has written a book about the American capitalist system that has the establishment talking. Peterson's deep concern about the U.S.'s seemingly built-in social pathologies and faltering national economy places him in a minority of the more sighted members of the ruling elite. The book is at its best in its relentless documentation of the way many existing federal entitlements work to the benefit of the affluent over the poor, the old over the poor.
