The article discusses the book "On Health and Occupation," by Benjamin Ward Richardson. This little manual is divided into four parts. The first part is a classification of the people of England and Wales according to their occupations. The second and third part is of injuries to health and life that result from these various occupations. The last part is of practical methods by which the life of the different classes of workers may be rendered healthier and longer. The books shows that English are nearly all workers; but the supreme praiseworthiness of labor, is hardly borne out by the Registrar-General's enquiries into its effects upon the health and longevity of workingmen.
