The article focuses on the book "Ueber alte Schädel von Assos und Cypern." This work, taken in connection with its high scientific character, is a striking instance of breadth of interest in these days of intellectual centralization. The greater part of the publication is devoted to Assos and to the skulls from its Necropolis. The author himself visited that site in 1879, two years before the American exploration was begun, and, to a scholarly review of the accounts, ancient and modern, of this important citadel, he is thus enabled to add a charming page of personal impression.
