The article presents information on socio-political conditions of the U.S. Frederick S. Winston, President of the Mutual Life Insurance Co. died in Florida. He was seventy-nine years of age. He became President of that company in 1853, and during his administration its assets have increased $100,000,000. During the war he was noted for his energy in helping the Government and his profound faith in the Union. Long before the hour for the convening of the Chamber of Deputies, on Monday, the streets in the vicinity were packed with crowds of excited men. A strong force of military was on duty to prevent a riot and preserve order in the Chamber.
