The article focuses on the book "The Correspondence and Diaries of the Late Right Honorable John Wilson Croker," edited by Louis J. Jennings. Jennings's book contains no information, which may not be obtained from sources that have long been open to every student. The best trait about Croker was his strenuous work at the Admiralty. That he got fair day's wages for the day's labors may well be admitted but it must also be borne in mind that he threw his whole heart into the task before him, and gave to the country a kind of unremitting toil which cannot be bought for mere money.
