Many of the invalids who go to Royat would be relieved of some grave ailments, and cured of some lighter ones, by a few weeks' sojourn in that pleasant place. The climate of Royat during the season from May to October is very good, but so is that of almost any place in western Europe. The agents employed in the treatment of patients are the thermal waters of the four springs of Royat, mainly alkaline-saline waters, the congeners of those of Ems, but containing also iron and a trace of arsenic as effective elements. They are used both externally, in flowing baths, and internally as tonics.
