Talleyrand on London and America

This article presents information on Charles Talleyrand, French statesman and diplomat. It is informed that Talleyrand arrived in London on January 12, 1792, with the mission of forming a defensive alliance between France and England. It is informed that Europe was never really united against the French Revolution. Prussia, Russia, Austria bad views and interests of their own which could not well be reconciled. England did not really wish to make war so long as Antwerp and Amsterdam were not threatened. The first coalition had been broken after two years of vain and disconnected efforts.
