The article critically apprises the book "Charing Cross to St. Paul's." The book is related to pen drawing, which has its own peculiar felicities of touch and manner which differ from etching but its great advantage over any kind of drawing in tone, which it possesses in common with etching is the facility of leaving out. A tone drawing must, in the nature of things, be pretty equally completed throughout, but the draughtsman with the pen is bound to nothing. The glory of the book is in the photogravure plates, which are altogether admirable. In them one has such reproduction as shows the lull range and possibility of the material. Drawings are worthy of such reproduction.
