The article discusses election of Italy held in 1980. The author of this article had left Italy before the election commenced, with a clear idea of how they would end. In the presence of one strong, compact party, with a national and international program of their own, there were four or five factions with no program of their own. The author gives details of programs and campaign strategy of influential political parties. Information regarding nation leaders and their ideological orientation has also been given in this article.
