The article discusses about the book "The Spanish Conspiracy," by Thomas Marshall Green. The author has sought to show leaping flame for the destruction of John Brown's political fame and for the special confusion of his latest apologist, who is represented to have been inspired with much more of pious zeal than of either truth or candor in performing the task so imprudently undertaken. The strange and picturesque incidents of this stirring period have come upon the writer with something like the surprise which attends a new discovery and the surprise often finds expression in a flamboyant style of literary composition, much more remarkable for the reiterated stress of its emphasis than for its strength of reserve.
