It will be readily admitted that any great educational institution which, like Trinity College, Dublin, Ireland has lasted, with a growing fame, for 300 years, is amply entitled to celebrate its tercentenary with appropriate honors. Founded by Queen Elizabeth as a bulwark and defense of Protestantism in a land faithful to the "Old Church," and endowed with many munificent gifts by her successors and by the other patrons of learning whose names are publicly recited in Trinity Chapel on the afternoon of every first Trinity Sunday in the Church year, the College is rich today in its annual revenues, in its commodious bath, in its famous library, in its well-equipped astronomical observatory, and in the emoluments of its fellowships.
