This article presents information, related to the book industry. The book "American Ideas for English Readers," which J.G. Cupples Co., Boston, have in press, is a new collection of the late J. R. Lowell's speeches and addresses delivered abroad. Joseph Payne of the London College of Preceptors could not at his best have been a writer to be read with gusto; but his natural dryness is enhanced in the edition of his book "Lectures on the History of Education." The first report of the United States Board on Geographic Names, 1890-1891, is a thin volume briefly rehearsing the origin of the Board and its achievements, and adding a "list of decisions " as to the orthography of a large number of names, and a list of counties in the United States.
