The article throws light on the Democratic party in the U.S. The Democratic party has been put to defensive all over the country and is endangering its hold on power in New York city and State. It is simply and solely the bad character of some of their leading men. It failed there in order that some conspicuous Democrats might make money in sugar. The article throws light on the important constitutional questions that should be kept in mind during election for Governor. Experience has shown that it is hard enough, even under the most favorable circumstances, to secure proper attention for such issues. It is therefore the more necessary to call attention to the subject in a year when personal and partisan questions are unusually engrossing.
