The article reports on the Ross Perot's withdrawal form the presidential campaign and Jesse Jackson's speech at the Democratic convention. The Perot cult, engendered by the man himself but subscribed to by millions, took as its central axiom of faith the notion that a single decisive man could clean up the national mess, flush out the Augean stables of Washington, end political gridlock and restore the Republic to its former economic glory, but his withdrawal annulled the faith of the people. Jesse Jackson, in his speech at the Democratic convention, mentioned the condition of oppressed in the North America. He asserted the need to protect workers' rights to organize and to strike, and assailed repressive anti-labor laws.
