The article presents an overview of the book "Massachusetts, Its Historians and Its History: An Object-Lesson," by Charles Francis Adams. The author has elaborated views of the history of Massachusetts in regard to religious liberty, and of the treatment of that theme by Massachusetts historians, already indicated in his book "Three Episodes." Adams has put his thoughts in a form that is telling and brilliant, and that holds the interest of the reader as it must have held the attention of the Harvard undergraduates.
