This article presents information on recent political developments in the U.S. The final acceptance by Senator George Gray of his appointment as peace commissioner completes the list. The commission as it stands consists of three members of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. The chief of the Treasury Bureau of Statistics has just returned from Porto Rico and has made public admission of the melancholy fact that the island has been already pretty well "taken up." Its population is now more dense than that of Massachusetts and the prospect of materially increasing its productiveness is "not flattering."
