The article discusses several law books. Law books are of two kinds, those, which are the fruit of a reasoned analysis of the subject, and those, which are not. If one say that author Charles Fisk Beach's Commentaries on the Law of Insurance belongs to the latter class, one say nothing very much to its discredit, since books of the former are few and far between. John Brooks Leavitt's treatise on The Law of Negligence is an interesting experiment, in as much as the cases from which his law is drawn. The volume Restraints on the Alienation of Property, by John Chipman Gray treats a well-defined subject fully, accurately, and in good English. A large part of the present volume deals with what are called spendthrift trusts.
